  Fifth Doctor Adventures: Conflicts of Interest Much like the reaction image that circles the internet, Conflicts of Interest is a Doctor Who release that slows down, and has to awkwardly ask: “Are we the baddies?”  Two and a half stories themed around the nature of humanity sometimes being the monsters, Conflicts of Interest stars the classic team of the Fifth Doctor, Tegan and Nyssa, as played by Peter Davison, Janet Fielding and Sarah Sutton. Having long been one of my favorite TARDIS teams, when I saw how interesting the synopsis’s were, and that aside from our regulars, Conflicts is entirely original IP, it very quickly launched into one of my must haves in terms of Big Finish releases - despite my usual choices in life not to do so, I actually pre-ordered this one. Themed Boxsets can be both interesting and effective if done well, but if done poorly, you can sort of forget that the boxsets have themes. Luckily, this sets theme is quite strong.   The Third Doctor Adventures: The Return of Jo Jones We've had plenty of adventures with Older Companions returning to the TARDIS in Big Finish - it's sort of a little tradition at this point to get one, once in a while, because with characters like Nyssa having aged and returning to the TARDIS, it adds an additional form of subtext to the actors themselves - Big Finish is not Classic Who, it is not a poorly funded group of beautiful idiots running around a quarry in order to make some absolutely gorgeous nonsense out of a tin can and some bits of string.  Things have changed - so runs the passage of time. Of course, The Return of Jo Jones as a boxset is the most overt this theme has been yet. Older Nyssa and Slightly Older Peri, and the handful of other aged up versions of the companions we love so - well, while a good deal of them sound exactly the same, and so you get the slight problem where Young Nyssa sounds exactly like Old Nyssa, and you forget.   Torchwood: Among Us 1 Warning: Torchwood Among Us 1 is a very consistently dark boxset, and the themes I will be discussing in the reviews below may be triggering to some.  The main problem that I have when composing the reviews for Torchwood's The Story Continues Series, is that I don't have much to actually review. Well, enough to criticize. There's plenty to analyze, to be sure, but I really rather struggle writing reviews for this series in particular, because Series 5, 6, and now 7 of Torchwood are really, really, really, goddamn great, and taken as a whole, my favorite thing Big Finish/The Whoniverse has ever done. Sure, there are some INDIVIDUAL stories I like more than some of the best episodes, such as The Chimes of Midnight or Friend of the Family, but Torchwood's "Among Us" ranges are so consistent that they knock it out of the park each time.
