In Memorium

In Memoriam:

The Master emerges from the white void alone. Paige is dead.

On an island, the Doctor considers what life is, now she is confined to the Divergent Universe and has lost her friend. But there's something strange about the island. Something the Doctor can't put her foot on in her grief. Was it the Master? Was it the harsh unblinking reality of this brave new world? Or was it the Time Lords, interfering in her life yet again? The Editor is cheerful - she knows the Doctor always bounces back, that the Doctor always will succeed. That's how it's always been for her, after all. Because she's the Doctor, in a way. But it might not be true. The Doctor might not recover from this - and the Master might not either.

Because there's something different about this island. It's where you speak to the lost. It's where the dead rise. And it's where Paige walks out of the sea...
