NCJDDAS: The Living Doubt

Featuring A Doctor From Arbrax

Previously On Doctor Who...

The Celestial Toymaker, over the course of about six stories, had began a plan to decimate and kill the Doctor with more flare than anyone else had dared to try before. Shame Cherry shot him in the head, then this finale might have had some direction to it. Jeff, a random Janitor, was assigned by the Black Guardian to continue the Toymaker's plans, and he's probably going to do that now. Meanwhile, The Doctor has recently encountered two of her past selves, and they're gonna be important, I think.

But what's really important is The (confusingly named) War Chief, a new incarnation of the Master, who is up and kicking about, and seems to have a plan all her own.

But as the season comes to a close, Cherry, Roman and The Doctor arrive at the 1920s of New York, trying to pick up Cherry's girlfriend, Marsha.

I sure hope that Marsha isn't going to be incredibly confused by the large amount of plot she's about to  be presented with.

Chapter One

Jeff was tending his plants. He had been declared the celestial Toymaker and the new arc villain by the black guardian, but he just didn’t have the mood for it. He just felt aimless. So what if the Doctor was interfering with the Toymaker’s plans? He just liked cleaning. “Hey, dipweed!”

Jeff turned around. “Excuse me? I’m just um. Cleaning...” He muttered to himself non-commitedly.

The War Chief, as played by Kristen Bell, strode into the room. “You’re the new Toymaker, right?”

“Oh, um, well, I do suppose. One mustn’t grumble.” Jeff said, again non-commitedly.

“Come on, man. The Black Frickin Guardian sent me! Get off your ass!”

Jeff got up, clearly quite overwhelmed.

“Look, man.” The War Chief said. “The Black Guardian was kinda clear on what he wants you to do. The Toymaker has been building up power from numerous sources. These weird movie theaters inside your brain, The Weakest Link, Mario 2, whatever, he’s gotten loads of energy by stealing it from people. All to power the Black Guardian’s newest creation, The Swarm.”

“What? What?”

“It’s okay dude! You have enough power for it! All you have to do is press that button, and the entire galaxy will be under your control!”

Elsewhere, The TARDIS materialized. The Doctor, Roman and Cherry got out.

“OmiGod, Omigod, you guys we’re here we’re here we’re here!” Cherry screamed joyously. “1920!”

“You know, you’ve gone from flapper to valley girl, Cherry. It might not be the smoothest transition going around here, be careful, you’re a different person to who you once were.” The Doctor commented.

“Yeah, back then, I wanted to kill you. I was like, loopy or something.” Cherry said dismissively.  “Anyway, it’s gonna be like, great having Marsha around, We oughta go find her!”

Several guns cocked around them.

“Orrrrrrrrr..... we could get shot by these Government agents?” Roman offered.  Yes, several teams of men in suits and sunglasses, surrounded them.

Captain Gwen Cooper stepped out of the crowd. “Cherry, Why the fuck did you turn in your resignation?”

“Oh, balls.” Cherry mumbled.

Chapter Two

“Okay, so, Gwen.” Cherry tried to explain. “One: you were all like, let’s kill the Doctor, and they’re like, super cool.”

“They’re super irresponsible! And I only want to kill their Uber evil future self, mind.” Gwen said, crossing her arms.

“Well, this ain’t it!” Implored Cherry. “In all honesty, what they do, is they do good! They make people happy, they change lives for the better, and they’ve only committed a few firebombings.”

“Then why in order for you to work with them, did you feel you have to resign?” Gwen asked.

“Just to confirm, You resigned?” Roman Asked.

“Oh, yep.” Cherry said. “I was initially only with you to like, scout you out, but I liked you, so I resigned!”

“You spied on us!” Roman yelled.

“Oh, come on, like you’re a paragon of virtue.” The Doctor deadpanned. “Your presidency is incredibly controversial.”

"EVERYONE ON GALLIFREY IS EVIL THOUGH" Screamed Roman

"Look." Gwen said. "We're receiving readings. Outside the atmosphere of Earth, with cloaking only our technology in this era can detect, There are trillions of Microscopic drone ships! I'm just saying it's funny that this kind of thing only happens when the Doctor shows up."

"Microscopic? Trillions?" The Doctor asked.

They heard a whooshing grinding noise as a TARDIS dematerialized nearby.

"What the-" Gwen spat.

"Oh, of course, it's the season finale," Roman remarked.

The door swung open, and Paige and The Elizabeth Olsen Doctor rushed out.

"Oh, look! It's Bruce Lee and Madonna!" Remarked The Elizabeth Olsen Doctor, pointing at Roman and Cherry.

"Yep, it's definitely the season finale. This kind of thing only happens when it's an arbitrary season finale." Roman continued to comment.

A third TARDIS dematerialization noise grinded in the distance.

"Oh, can I just catch a break?" The Doctor spat.

Chapter Three

Marsha sat in her apartment, making herself cereal. She hummed to herself. It had been a long day. All the days were long and hard, recently, really. She collapsed onto the couch with her cereal in hand. It had been three weeks, Cherry had been gone, and she hadn't said goodbye, and Marsha really was reconsidering whatever the hell her life was.

An artificial light shone outside the window.

"MARSHA BAKER, MATE OF AGENT CHERRY CLASSIFIED, WE ARE THE SWARM OF THE UNDYING."

"What the-" Marsha sputtered. "No, no, I'm not the "mate of Cherry," you can get shot for that these days! What the hell?"

"MARSHA BAKER, YOU LIE."

"What the devil are you?" Marsha yelled.

"THIS APARTMENT HAS BEEN CLAIMED UNDER JURISDICTION OF THE CELESTIAL TOYMAKER."

"Oh no, oh no, what is that? What is that?" Marsha whimpered.

"YOU WILL BE REMOVED. YOUR CONNECTION TO CHERRY CLASSIFIED WILL GIVE US A STRATEGIC ADVANTAGE AGAINST THE DOCTOR."

Marsha screamed.

Outside in the streets, the three TARDISes, Gwen's team of Torchwood agents, the Doctor and her companions, and all of the like, were starting to hold up the street.

"Wait, what's that?" Paige pointed, at the apartment building currently being filled with light.

"That's my house!" Grumbled Cherry. "Well, actually according to the legal papers, the two gay guys who live in the attic and pretend to be our husbands for social situations and whatnot, it's their house legally, but I live there, what the frick?"

"I don't know," The Doctor said, suddenly gravely serious.

The Swarm suddenly burst out of the window. Thousands of penny sized projectiles flew at them, black and sharp as knives.

"What are those?" Gwen yelled.

"Miniature drone ships. Or maybe there are really really small people inside them. They're incredibly tiny, violent spaceships." The other Doctor commented.

The third TARDIS' door slammed open.

"Oh, you people." The David Thewlis Doctor groaned.

"Oh great, three of them!" Complained Gwen. "As if one-"

And then a drone slammed into Gwen's spine and she disappeared into nothing.

Chapter Three

Jeff stood in the room next to the War Chief.

"They're attacking already," The War Chief commented. "It's in their internal systems. They're programmed to attack when they don't have direction, but they need direction. They need a leader. They need you to control them."

"Why me?" Jeff cried. "I'm just a janitor!"

"Oh come on, bro! You're the arc villain now!"

"As if that goes well for anyone!"

"All we have to do is take control of the swarm. And-"

Gwen Cooper and Marsha appeared out of thin air, collapsing next to them. The Drones, having attacked and vaporized them, actually didn't vaporize them, and merely deposited them here.

"And look! We have our first hostages, dude!"

"I don't want to have hostages!" Complained Jeff. "I want to water plants!"

"OH FOR FUCKS SAKE, I WAS HOPING THAT THIS SEASON ARC INVOLVING YOU AND THE TOYMAKER WOULD AMOUNT TO SOMETHING, BUT I GUESS I GOTTA PICK UP THE PIECES," Yelled The War Chief, getting out a gun and vaporizing Jeff.

"Okay." She smirked. She walked over to the Swarm's controls. "Let's see what we can do..."

Meanwhile,

The Three Doctors, Paige, Cherry and Roman were being harassed by the swarm.

"Is Gwen gonna be alright?" Cherry asked.

"Yes. The writer likes Gwen too much to kill her off." The David Thewlis Doctor remarked.

"Oh, I remember you!" The Olsen Doctor said, putting her fingers in circles around her eyes to imitate glasses. "You're me!"

"Golly, I have this to look forward to-" The David Thewlis Doctor snarked. "And ooh, Judi Dench is here too."

"Oh, this is lovely, I get to argue with myself!" The Judi Dench Doctor complained. "In the middle of a drone swarm firefight!"

"Here's an idea," said The Elizabeth Olsen Doctor, spinning around happily. "We go up to them and say, We are The Doctor, there are three of us and we're really famous so I bet if you look us up you'll be so intimidated you'll go away."

"That no longer works." The Judi Dench Doctor said.

"Why?" The Elizabeth Olsen Doctor asked.

"Because Tennant and Smith did it too much." The Judi Dench Doctor replied. "Sorry, I don't make the rules."

"Roman, you're the cool one, come on," The David Thewlis Doctor said. "Take my hand."

"Why?" Roman asked.

"Oh, it's kinda simple, isn't it? We're going to get shot." The David Thewlis Doctor said, taking Roman's hand and jumping into the Swarm's line of fire.

Chapter Four

"What are they doing?" Paige asked.

"Oh, I'm getting it! They know that the drones are only killing certain people, and teleporting away important people, so they're using the swarm to figure out where Gwen, Marsha, and the other people went." The Judi Dench Doctor said.

"That's incredibly smart." Said Cherry.

"Or they could have teleported themselves into a lava pit, or the swarm could have just killed them instead of teleporting them. It's the sort of incredibly dumb thing I only do when I happen to know I'll survive for another 10 incarnations." The Judi Dench Doctor finished.

"So, what do we do?" The Elizabeth Olsen Doctor asked. "How can we disable the swarm from here?"

"Wait, they have to be getting energy from somewhere," Paige commented. "If we could cut them off from their supply, we win!"

"Wow, god I like that one." The Judi Dench Doctor commented. "If I wasn't already 2 up on companions, I'd totally take you for a trip."

"If I already didn't have a Doctor, I'd take you up on it." Paige grinned.

"CEASE YOUR ATTEMPTS TO SURVIVE. IN THE NAME OF THE CELESTIAL TOYMAKER, WE SHALL DESTROY YOU!" The Swarm screamed.

"Ooh, that's helpful." Cherry said.

"Yeah, we now know they're getting their power from ONE, trapping people in mario, TWO, setting up weird psychic movie theaters, and THREE, the weakest link on Satellite Five." The Judi Dench Doctor said.

"Okay then!!" The Doctors said simultaneously. "Back to the TARDIS!"

They both got in their TARDISes, and dematerialized. They each spent around 300 years disposing of all of the Toymaker's power sources, and then the TARDISes reappeared, and they popped back.

"Woo! That's taken care of!" The Doctors said, stepping out of the TARDIS.

"Oh my god really" muttered Cherry.

"Look, I'm certain we already have loads more plot to cover here." The Judi Dench Doctor said.

The swarm fell out of the sky.

"And...yeah, we did just spend 300 years on it each, so it's not a copout." She continued.

"You ever think about the audiences' perspective?" Asked Paige, crossing her arms.

"Cooo-eee!" They heard a gun cock from behind them. "Sorry to intrude, ladies. But you're right. There is much more plot to go around." Norton Folgate stepped out of the shadows from behind them, waving around his gun deliriously.

Chapter Five

"Oh, balls, Norton. You shouldn't be in Torchwood yet, you start up in the 50s, this is the 20s." Cherry said.

"Piss off," Commented Norton. "You've been very naughty, recently, Cherry. Leaving Torchwood like that. And while Gwen and the others are more, forgiving, I'm afraid the Committee takes no shits."

"Can we not bring up the committee, please-" Cherry commented.

"Whatever. I'm going to shoot you dead now, kitty kat." Norton snarled.

Paige hit him on the head with a fire extinguisher. He collapsed. "What?"

"Great, we now know the Committee is after us, and we need to still rescue Marsha, and figure out where the others have got to, and how the celestial toymaker is behind this, didn't he die?" The Judi Dench Doctor asked.

"Yeah, we never saw him get resurrected like you said we would," Cherry commented.

"I'm sure that the scenes about to cut to David Thewlis Doctor, so we'll understand shortly." The Elizabeth Olsen Doctor said, cheekily.

Suddenly, the scene cut to David Thewlis, who suddenly materialized next to Marsha and Gwen on the ship.

"Goody, more prisoners!" cheered The War Chief, grinning evilly.

Roman tried to charge at the war chief, but realized they were behind cell bars made of lasers.

"You're behind this, War Chief!" Roman growled.

"Well, it was going to be Jeff, but he was stupid." The War Chief muttered. "Although for some reason, I've just lost control of my power sources."

"Oh, that'll be my other selves, stopping you." The David Thewlis Doctor said. "This spaceship itself is gonna run low on power soon. It'll go to life support and thrusters only. And-"

As the lights dimmed, the laser cell bars disappeared.

"The Cell block isn't essential power." he finished.

"What?" The War Chief spat.

The David Thewlis Doctor strolled forward casually. "Yeah, I think you just lost. Sorry about that."

"But- if you cut this ship's power, it's... it's warp core is powered by a singularity. It'll eat us up in no time!" The War Chief screamed.

The David Thewlis Doctor's eyes narrowed. "Roman, take the helm, we're going to try and save this ship. How much power do we have?"

"37%." Roman replied.

"Good, that's enough for three emergency beam outs." The David Thewlis Doctor said.

"I'm staying." Roman said.

"There's no guarantee we survive this." The David Thewlis Doctor said.

"Beam Gwen and Marsha to the Doctor! Beam The War Chief into prison!" Roman said. "It's the responsible thing to do."

"I knew I liked you." The David Thewlis  Doctor commented.

"I still have no clue what is going on!" Screamed Marsha, as they beamed her and the others back to earth.

"How are we going to land this ship?" Roman asked.

"Like I said, it's a malfunctioning time ship with a singularity for a warp core!" The  David Thewlis Doctor said. "Landing it anywhere will be a success!"

"Let's aim for anywhere then," Roman said, pulling the switches as the ship fell out of time.

Epilogue

The Doctor, The Doctor, Paige and Cherry stood in the middle of the square, watching the ship burn up in the sky, and then disappear.

"Roman! Where have they gone!"

"We'd know if they died." The Elizabeth Olsen Doctor said. "They're fine. They're somewhere in the universe. And they're incredibly heroic."

Marsha, The War Chief and Gwen teleported directly next to them.

"WHAT IS GOING ON" Said Marsha, her entire world view changed.

"You get used to it." Said Gwen.

"Haha, Suckers!" Screamed The War Chief, punching Cherry and rushing into Ralph Fiennes's TARDIS. "You'll forgive me if I take this!" She laughed. "I think he won't be using it any time soon!" She dematerialized.

"Well, I'm certain I'll have to fix that at some point." The Judi Dench Doctor said.

"Well, let's get going!" The Elizabeth Olsen Doctor said. "I do hope we meet again! Be seeing you!"

She and Paige got into their TARDIS and departed.

Cherry and Marsha ran up to eachother and hugged.

"Cherry." Marsha said. "WHAT. THE FUCK. WAS THAT."
