Quicksilver

Quicksilver by Matt Fitton

On the other hand, Quicksilver is really a quite astonishing bit of audio, one that is just about as far as I consider it, perfect, and one that thoroughly proves that Matt Fitton is best when he gets a 2 hour runtime. Don't believe me? Just look at the Destination Wars or The Eighth Piece/The Doomsday Chronometer. Even his lesser two hour ones like Criss-Cross or World of Damnation/Sweet Salvation are still much better than his usual work, which often feels by the numbers. But Quicksilver is full of life, incredibly impactful storytelling that gives revitalization to Constance and The Sixth Doctor after the one-two punch of Shield of The Jotunn and Absolute Power that had blighted their hitherto fabulous stories. I was worried that 6/Constance would only be good when facing established enemies like The Rani or The Daleks, but Quicksilver includes none of that, and even the inclusion of Flip (Who is still fabulous, she gives light to every story I hear her in) is almost unconnected to the dang good drama that is given between Constance and Henry. This would already be the best Constance story with that alone, but the scenes of her returning to her home and her newfound chemistry with Flip shove the character to incredibly new heights. The setting of Vienna is glamorous and perfect as a backdrop, and the aliens, although uninspired at points, are deftly accomplished. Character is front and center here, and really, while they tried to do that in previous stories, it never really felt as alive as it did here. Quicksilver is such a sign of light in this series, and really, although it was about a 9, it was so enjoyable I'm giving it a 9.5/10 and you can't stop me-
