The Two Masters

The Two Masters by John Dorney

Well. This review is going to be hard to write.
I think I've ran out of adequate words to praise John Dorney, who at this point has ascended from the best Big Finish writer TO A GOD, unbound by ANY of your foolish earthly limits.
Even besides that, The Two Masters is still extraordinary. Incredibly difficult to describe too, as I risk getting too gushy, and also, it's incredibly locked behind two other stories in the trilogy it is in and before you ask, no you cannot listen to this one on it's own go listen to the other two, they're also excellent (okay, Vampire of The Mind is mediocre, but it's a lot better merely by association to this one)
I have actually surprisingly little to say about The Two Masters, which makes this review incredibly difficult. The Dialogue is amazing. "Well...it sure ain't Goldilocks..." and Geoffrey Beevers is mindmeltingly good throughout. When isn't he? He's so good at the character, he's so good at the campy while being utterly terrifying, just like the best masters (i.e. Derek Jacobi, who is essentially doing a really good Beevers impression, okay, not really, but still) Who really surprised me was Alex Macqueen, because where a crazy Beevers works, a serious Macqueen doesn't, and I'm happy to report that Macqueen is back to normal and campy in this story for the majority, and the male Michelle Gomez is back in action and very good. Very very good. Sylvester McCoy also gives his best performance in an age.The whole deal with the Two Masters, minus the brilliant, intricate plot, is the chemistry, and Sylvester McCoy, Geoffrey Beevers and Alex Macqueen are the best triple act since Batman, Robin and Batgirl. Which one is which, I'll let you figure out. Oh yeah, and here’s a final mention: If you’re mad the Two Masters doesn’t fit into your timeline-
...Why. Please Stop.
I don't feel like a reviewer with John Dorney's stuff anymore, I'm just babbling and drooling and my heart is bumping out of my chest like an old cartoon character. AWOOGA!  10/10
