Torchwood: Made You Look
Made You Look By Guy Adams
Besides one of the best looking covers ever, what exactly does Made You Look have to offer? Well, it's another nigh-perfect Gwen release, although it isn't as good as We Always Get Out Alive or More Than This, it still is pretty much the sucker punch you would expect - It has a fantastic idea to play with, one that you think would be dumb. Similar to the Weeping Angels or The Red Lady, Made You Look has a fascinating villain where it's whole gimmick is if you look at it 3 times, you're dead. So more, the opposite of the Weeping Angels. The fact that this is audio, once again works to it's benefit. This would completely and utterly fail if broadcast on television, unless they went through a great deal of effort and even still it wouldn't be as good. It's a particularly sick episode, Gwen goes through utter hell here as she tries to escort a blind woman out of the town, with her eyes closed. But the villain uses psychology to remarkable effect - if there's something right next to you whispering into your ear about how it's going to kill you, of course you'd open your eyes. It's smart, that way, although you'd instantly think that Gwen could keep her eyes closed for the entire story, of course, reality ensues. The best scenes of the audio are that of the creature playing with Gwen, the later scenes with the hallucinations are an especially grotesque highlight. It's by no means the darkest Torchwood release, far from it, but it's moody atmosphere is to it's benefit, an excellent choice if you want to put something on to get spooked...10/10
